Facility Rental Form
The Newton Recreation Commission has a number of facilities available for public rental. Our Gymnasium, Meeting Rooms, Park Shelters, Swimming Pools and Athletic Fields are available for all your rental needs.
How do I rent one of those facilities?
It is a simple process. Reservation forms are available at the Newton Activity Center during business hours, Monday through Friday. If the facility you wish to rent is available on the requested date and time, simply fill out the Facility Request form, pay the required deposit and the rental amount. The reservation goes into the computer and the facility is reserved for you and your event.
Things to remember when making a reservation.
Several of our facilities require a damage/cleaning deposit which is separate from the rental amount. To insure the return of your entire deposit, please make sure that the facility is left clean and undamaged.
All reservations must include the time needed for any set up and/or clean up. Extra charges may be incurred for time not indicated on the reservation form.
For a slight fee, NRC will set up the facility according to your requests.
Swimming Pool
The Newton Recreation Commission operates two pools.
The Center Pool is located in the Newton Activity Center and has a capacity of 35 swimmers. Pool depth ranges from a shallow 2 feet to 6 feet at it’s deepest. A handicap lift is located on the deck and for your convenience, locker rooms are located just a few steps away. A pool rental plus a room rental is the perfect combination for your child’s birthday party.
The Municipal Pool is located in Athletic Park and was recently renovated adding some wonderful amenities for summer fun. With a capacity of 275 the Municipal Pool has some wonderful new attractions such as a rock climbing wall and a new slide! Other additions include a zero entry for the little ones complete with a new family slide, a lazy river and a basketball goal! Not only was the pool renovated so were the locker rooms, complete with new benches and showers. If you get hungry don't forget to visit our concessions stand for some great choices. The pool is available to rent for family gatherings, birthday parties and social events. Looking for some summer fun? Come visit us at the Municipal Pool!
When can I rent the pools and what are the rates?
Center Pool regular rates: Cover the hours of 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Fridays, 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM and 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM on both Saturdays and Sundays.
During those hours, rates are $70 per hour. These fees include the staffing of a lifeguard.
Center Pool premium rates:
Cover any hours at which time activities are not being held in the pool or hours at which time the Newton Activity Center is not open.
During those hours, rates are $80 per hour. Once again, these fees include the staffing of a lifeguard.

Party Package
Rent the Center Pool for 1 hour and a room for 1 hour for $105 plus a $40 refundable deposit.
Meeting Rooms
The Newton Activity Center has two meeting rooms available.
The Sunflower Room will accommodate up to 80 people in any meeting or banquet style. This is the larger of the two rooms and is ideal for larger gatherings such as family dinners, meetings and even dances. The Center’s kitchen is also available to rent for $5 per hour.
The Cottonwood Room will accommodate up to 40 people and is well suited for smaller gatherings such as birthday parties or baby showers.
When can I rent these rooms and what are the rates?
Each room is available to rent seven days a week. Rates are set up accordingly:
Regular rates cover the hours of:
- 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, Monday through Thursday
- 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Friday
- 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Saturday
- 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday
During those hours, rates are $35 per hour.
Premium rates:
Cover any hours at which time the Activity Center is not open, such as after 10:00 PM weeknights (Fridays after 7:00 PM) or 5:00 PM weekends or before 12:30 PM on Sundays.
During those hours, rates are $50 per hour. NRC requires a staff member to be present during these times.
Rental of the each meeting room requires a deposit of $40 which is separate from the rental amount and is refunded if rental conditions are fulfilled.
*Premium rate rentals are subject to approval and staffing availability.
Athletic Parks
To reserve the stone park shelter, swimming pool and/or an athletic field in Athletic Park please contact NRC at (316) 283-7330.

Athletic Fields
The Newton Recreation Commission has soccer, softball and baseball fields available. Each of these fields can be rented beginning January 2 of each year and can be rented for practices, leagues and tournaments. Fields can be rented seven days a week, at any time of day, providing there are no NRC activities scheduled at that location. Any teams participating in NRC leagues are allowed to reserve fields for practices at no charge.
Soccer fields are located in Centennial Park and the number of fields available is dependent on the size needed. Fields are not lighted and there are no scoreboards. Restrooms are located in the park and a concession stand is also available.
Soccer field rental rates:
$10 per field, per day. A $12 per hour fee is required for field marking and maintenance.
Softball fields are located in several locations. Athletic Park has one field which has lights, an electronic scoreboard and scorer’s box. A lighted field is also located at Washington Park. 10th & Ash park is home to a small field suited for younger kids or t-ball. Centennial Park has 4 softball fields and a lighted baseball field with 275 foot fences. Kenny Williams baseball field is also located in Centennial Park. A lighted field with 300 foot fences, it is well suited for tournaments.
Softball/Baseball field rental rates:
- Deposit - $200 per field or facility
- Concessions - $50 per event, per site
- Field(s) - $150 per field or facility, per day
- Lights - $75 per field or facility, per day (maximum 3 hours)
- Rental of a softball or baseball field for tournament purposes requires a $200 deposit which is separate from the rental amount and is refunded if rental conditions are fulfilled.
*This fee includes field marking and maintenance at the beginning of the tournament only.

Park Shelters
The Newton Recreation Commission offers 2 park shelters for rental. Both shelters have a capacity of 25 people, tables, electrical outlets, restrooms near and a fireplace. Reservations can be made beginning Easter weekend and running through the weekend before Halloween.
Rental rates:
$40 per 4 hour increments (A minimum of 4 hours is required).
Rental of each shelter requires a deposit of $40 which is separate from the rental amount and is refunded if rental conditions are fulfilled.
Tables & Chairs
1 Table - $12.00
8 Chairs - $12.00
1 Table and 8 Chairs - $20.00
All NRC Table and Chair Rentals require a $50 deposit
Gymnasium
The Gymnasium in the Newton Activity Center houses 3 courts, marked for basketball, volleyball, pickleball and tennis. A walking track frames the courts and during the months of February through April, the courts are converted into an indoor soccer field (not available to rent).
The gym floor is synthetic rubber and curtains can be lowered to separate each court. Each court has an electronic scoreboard and bleachers. The size of the gym lends itself to not only sports events but to dances, lock-ins and art shows. Any teams participating in NRC leagues are allowed to reserve courts for practice at no charge, during designated times.
When can I rent the Gymnasium?
The Gymnasium is available to rent anytime that an NRC event or activity is not scheduled.
