Newton Community Camp 101 offers an exciting, behind-the-scenes look at our community! Throughout the week, participants will tour a variety of local businesses, enjoy lunch at Newton restaurants, and come together to complete a meaningful community service project.

Note: MUST PRE-REGISTER and attend all 5 days of camp. Please prepare your children that we will be walking to most businesses (up to 1-2 miles). We will be bused to businesses not in walking distance.
Friday, August 22nd - Back to School
Are you ready to dance? Grab all of your friends and come on down to the Rec Center for an evening of fun! All students attending must follow the USD 373 dress code and NRC rules. Remember no black hard soled shoes are allowed in the Gym.

Tuesdays & Thursdays, September 9th - October 16th
Join us for our exciting Squeaky Soles Running Club, meeting twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Tuesdays, we engage in energetic running games designed for enjoyment and fitness. Thursdays are dedicated to setting personal running goals and completing laps, with incentives provided for achieving milestones. It’s a fantastic opportunity to enhance running skills in a supportive and motivating environment.

Wednesday, September 24th
One day, all the gooey fun! In this hands-on workshop, teens will mix and create their own custom slimes — from fluffy to glitter to glow-in-the-dark. Along the way, we’ll explore a little kitchen chemistry and what makes slime stretch, squish, and sparkle. Everyone leaves with multiple slime creations and a whole lot of sticky fun memories!

Friday, October 10th
Designed to prepare students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings or babysitting. The instructor-led class is filled with fun games and role-playing exercises. Students even get to use manikins to practice rescue skills like choking rescue and CPR (certifications not given in first aid/CPR).

Thursday, November 6th
Drop in for a fizzy good time! In this one-day class, teens will learn how to make their own bath bombs using skin-safe ingredients, custom scents, and vibrant colors. We’ll cover the basics of what makes them fizz and foam, and each participant will go home with their handcrafted bath bombs — perfect for self-care or gifting!

All aboard! Join us on the NRC Express for a special Christmas Light Tour! The bus will be decked out in Christmas lights and the music will be festive. Our driver knows the BEST places in Wichita to visit for a magical evening filled with millions of twinkling lights! We will visit several places including Reindeer Road, Candy Cane Lane, Lights on Texas, Faulkner Street and more! What better way to get into the Christmas spirit than to sightsee as a family or with friends!
Time: 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM - Loading will begin at approximately 5:50 PM. The bus will depart promptly at 6:00 PM - please arrive early to ensure you don’t miss it.
Fee: 4 years and Under: FREE; 5 years and Up: $12 per person; Family of 4: $35 (each additional person $6)
Ages: All Ages (All youth must be with an adult 18 or older)
Location: Newton Rec Center, 415 N. Poplar St. (light tour will be out of town)
