Mixed Media Studio: Layer, Texture, Create

Explore color, texture, and creativity in a relaxed, welcoming environment where experimentation is encouraged. Mixed Media Studio invites you to combine paint, paper, ink, collage, and texture into artwork that is uniquely your own. Whether you're new to art or looking to expand your creative skills, this class offers an enjoyable way to learn new techniques while creating finished pieces you'll be proud to display.

The series begins with two standalone technique classes before transitioning into a guided three-week project that brings everything you've learned together into one completed work of art.

Dates: November 5 – December 17, 2026 (No class November 26)
Time: Thursdays • 6:00–8:00 PM
Fee: $35 per class
Ages: Adults (16+)
Skill Level: Beginner-friendly • Curiosity encouraged, no prior experience necessary

What You'll Learn

Throughout this series, participants will:

Create layered artwork using paint, paper, ink, and collage
Learn techniques for adding texture and depth
Experiment with a variety of mixed media materials
Develop confidence through guided instruction and creative exploration
Complete finished artwork suitable for display at home

Everything you need is provided with your registration, including:

Mixed media paper
Mixed media board
Acrylic paints
Inks
Collage papers
Art mediums
Texture tools

Participants are also welcome to bring personal papers, photos, or ephemera they'd like to incorporate into their artwork.

Session Schedule

Week 12 | Texture & Layers (Standalone)

Learn foundational layering techniques while creating a textured background. This drop-in friendly class concludes with a completed mixed media study.

Week 13 | Collage & Line (Standalone)

Combine paper, paint, and ink into a balanced composition while exploring creative mark-making techniques. Finish the evening with another completed artwork.

Weeks 14–16 | Guided Mixed Media Build

Use the techniques learned during the first two classes to plan, build, and complete one larger mixed media artwork.

Week 14 – Build, Part 1

Plan your composition and begin creating your final piece.

Week 15 – Build, Part 2

Add layers, focal points, contrast, and texture while refining your artwork.

Week 16 – Build, Part 3 & Finish

Complete final details, edges, and finishing touches before taking home a ready-to-display work of art.
